Rest assured, Parkview E Free has what you need! Nursing moms are invited to enjoy a room designed just for you. A closed circuit TV broadcasts the worship service into a comfortable room for you so that you will be able to participate in the service at the same time as seeing to the needs of your child. This room is located off of the Cafe Court.

For infants up to two-year-olds, we offer a nursery that is well staffed by loving volunteers to watch over your child. Our nursery is made up of 3 rooms. One room for 2 year olds, one for 1 year olds and one for the infants and non-walkers. Children are cared for at all times by volunteers to ensure the safety of your child. For added security, we have a sign-in, numbering and paging system, so if your child needs you we will be able to page you.

Please feel free to visit our nursery and rest assured that your child will be well cared for while you participate in the worship service.

We are delighted with the children's curriculum we have chosen for Parkview E Free called Children Desiring God. This God-centered curriculum is designed to saturate our children with the Word of God so that they will "treasure Jesus alone who saves and satisfies the heart."

Awana

(Click here to see the Awana schedule.)

dscf6920_1The Awana Commander at Parkview E Free is Shaun Nielsen.  Awana is a nondenominational ministry that assists churches in reaching children and teenagers with the gospel of Jesus Christ and training them to serve Him. Awana Clubs International supplies programs, materials and training for more than 12,000 churches in over 110 countries. Their message to churches is simple: We're here to serve you with a ministry that is all about fun with a purpose - to win and grow kids for Christ!

Reaching our young people is very important. Did you know that 85% of all people who do not accept Jesus Christ by age 18 never will? That's why Awana offers a series of clubs and programs geared to the needs of a particular age or grade. As a vital part of our local church ministry, Awana clubs and programs effectively reach young people with the good news of Jesus Christ.

Each Awana  ministry (Cubbies, Sparks, and Truth & Training) is divided into three general areas: Game Time, Handbook Time, and Lesson Time. Children are encouraged to memorize scripture and are taught about Jesus and how to live a Christian life.

Awana Ministries:

  • Cubbies- This is a preschool ministry for 3 & 4 year olds. A child must be 3 years old prior to September 1st. The Team Leader for Cubbies is Laura Allen.
  • Sparks - This is the early elementary ministry for children in kindergarten through 2nd grade. The Team Leader for Sparks is Carrie Nielsen.
  • T & T - Also known as "Truth & Training," this is a ministry for 3rd through 5th grade students. Ronna Poole is the Team Leader for T & T.

Awana Activities:

  • Game Time- All Awana ministries have a time of activity each week.  Sparks and Truth & Training have the opportunity to compete against other Awana clubs in the annual Awana Games.  Mike and Melody Parsons facilitate our game time.
  • AWANA Bible Quizzing- A regional event for Awana where children in 3rd grade and up from various Awana clubs meet to see how well they have learned their verses and Awana material.
  • Missions- Adopt-a-Club is just one way that Awana participates in missions activities.  Adopt-a-Club allows our children to help children in another country attend Awana. This year we are supporting clubs in Venezula and Bolivia.

Children's Church

Children's Church is a ministry during the worship service for children ages three through kindergarten. It is a time for the children to come and get age appropriate Bible lessons. Our purpose is to come along side parents in their efforts to raise children who have a passion for Christ and His church. We are excited about starting a new curriculum this year from Discipleland and look forward to how God will use it to impact the lives of the children at Parkview. If you would like more information about Childrens' Church or would like to get involved, please contact our Children's Church Director, Alisha Abernathie at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Women

The Women's Ministry Team at Parkview E Free is primarily focused on discipleship. Our desire it to see every woman that is involved at Parkview to be engaged in a discipleship lifestyle, enabling us to be better equipped to further God's kingdom. All of the options we have for involvement are geared towards being beneficial in connecting us to one another in relationship, service or learning. As we get to know one another, we are more encouraged to puruse discipleship together.

Ways to get involved:

  • Christmas Gathering- If you have been cultivating a friendship with a pre-christian, this is a non-threatening and comfortable event for guests to help further their Gospel exposure.

  • Retreat- An extended time with one another in  a retreat setting to encourage us to be in relationship. There's always a lot of fun and Biblical Equipping!

  • Spring/Summer Event- The format may vary but a fun fellowship time to get acquainted it guaranteed

  • Softball- Pursue some "exercise" and connect with women on a summer team...we play weekly and the season ends with a July tournament

  • Care and Share- Volunteers help provide meals in the event of illness, a new baby or other need within the church family

  • Women's Missions- Gatherings to serve by making items needed by Compassion Ministries (the helping arm of the EFCA)

  • Periodic Bible Studies- Held at the church...seeking to explore and follow Jesus' modeling of discipleship

Seniors

Elderwise is a group designed to encourage fellowship and spiritual encouragement among the seniors of our church.  They will have potlucks and activities which will be announced in the bulletin.  June Johnson and Barb Cooper head this team.

Music & Worship

Our Philosphy of Worship:

dscf7500_1The Lord Jesus stated that authentic worshippers "will worship the Father in spirit and truth."  At Parkview E Free, we believe worship is meant to be our loving response to God as we grasp His greatness revealed within the pages of the Bible.  Our commitment to Biblical instruction nourishes and defines our worship of God.

The impact of a worship format that is God-oriented enables us to gain His eternal perspective on our daily lives as we live for Him.  The specific style or expression of our worship is "blended," a mix of up-to-date expressions of praise and the rich tradition of hymnology!

Worship Team Rehearsal Schedule

Wednesdays, 5:00 pm in the church sanctuary.

Missions

Parkview E Free has a long history of supporting missions locally and around the world.  Parkview prioritizes supporting ministries where members of the congregation have direct involvement in the outreach being carried out.

Local:
Biblical counseling, care for those in need, adoption and practical life skill development describe some of the local agencies that Parkview supports.  Sharing the gospel through assisting the work of faithful ambassadors around the region provides an opportunity to impact the area for Christ

International:
Parkview continues to support long-term missionaries around the world who are faithfully carrying out their calling to share about Jesus.

Recently, the international outreach of Parkview has expanded to include a deeper involvement with church in Berat, Albania.  Parkview is excited to share in the opportunity to learn and serve in a part of the world where athiesm was 'enforced' under communism and sharing the hope of Jesus was outlawed.  Praise God for a faithful remnant of believers in Berat who are trusting the power of the Living God to impact the city for Christ.  We are honored to have a small part in encouraging this work in Albania.

MOPS

Southside Mops Website                  MOPS International Website

The Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) ministry at Parkview E-Free is about connecting with other moms in the community, celebrating motherhood, and experiencing God's love through relationships with other women who share this important season of life. We meet the second Thursday of each month (September-May).

How much does MOPS cost?

  • First time visitors are free
  • $7.00 per meeting + $23.95 per mom (an annual MOPS International membership fee).
  • Speed Pass available at the beginning of the year. Pay for all the meetings and receive one meeting free ($56.00)
  • MOPS International membership fee is non-refundable. The MOPS International membership fee must be paid every year according to the MOPS year. (i.e. September 2010-May 2011.) Much like a school year calendar, you will receive MOPS materials for that year. The MOPS year starts over in September.

What should you expect at a MOPS meeting?

  • Discussion Groups

Before the MOPS year begins, all the moms are pre-assigned to discussion groups. These moms sit together at a table throughout the year during the discussion time. The goal of this is to provide a more intimate, accepting atmosphere where moms can freely share thoughts and feelings while providing the opportunity to connect with other moms at a deeper level. In other words, we hope for you to be able to make some new friends! Discussion groups often get together outside of MOPS for fun activities (with and without children).

  • Food

What would a get together be without food? Each meeting a discussion group is assigned to bring food for all the mothers to enjoy. Coffee and juice is provided. Your discussion group leader will organize this.

  • Speaking Time

A speaker is scheduled for each meeting. The speaker normally talks for around 30-40 minutes while we enjoy the food. Throughout the year we discuss issues related to mothering (surprise!), marriage, friendship, health, and even practical issues like cooking, cleaning, and organizing. The meeting information page lists speakers as they are scheduled.

  • Craft or Creative Activity

At each meeting we have some sort of creative activity whether it is a craft, a game or other activity such as cooking or pampering ourselves.

  • Discussion Time

Although our meetings can be quite full with activity, we make it a priority that each discussion group gets time to discuss the speaker topic and share about their personal lives. There will also be opportunity for you to make known or write any specific prayer requests you may have.

  • Child Care

For each meeting your preschool aged children are welcome to participate in our MOPPETS program, designed especially for them. Please see the MOPPETS section on our website for details.
